Members with Proficiency Certificate (PC)
are allowed to play on weekdays at both Garden and Tampines
Courses. Play on weekends and public holidays however is restricted
to evening 9-hole only until such time the PC holder obtained
his or her official golf handicap. (Please see handicap
test)
Rules & Etiquette Session
Conducted by Resident Golf Professional. To apply for a PC,
members must firstly attend a Rules & Etiquette Video Presentation
and discussion, available on the second Tuesday of each month
at 8.00pm at the Sports Complex TV Room. Duration is approximately
one hour, unless otherwise scheduled. To register, call Garden

Proficiency Certificate Test (Practical)
Candidates who have attended the Rules & Etiquette Session
may make an appointment with the Tester (Resident Golf Professional)
for the Practical PC Test.
Important Note
Members must attend and pass the practical PC Test within
6 months after the Rules & Etiquette session.
a) Venue of Test : Driving Range
b) Golf Set : at least seven golf clubs,
ie. 2 woods & 5 irons (inclusive of a PW & SW)
c) The Proficiency Certificate will
include the following:
- Candidates be shown how to repair
divots, rake bunkers and repair ball pitch-marks on the
green;
- Be tested on their ability to hit
balls out of bunkers and to chip/pitch balls onto the
green;
- And be tested on their ability to
hit with woods and irons the distances intended as well
as the direction intended. Tees may be used when hitting
with a wood, but irons have to be hit off the mat.
On successfully completing the practical
test, the members will be awarded a Proficiency Certificate.
