To qualify for handicap test, the member
must be a Proficiency Certificate (PC)
holder. With an official golf handicap,
members will be able to play on weekdays, weekends/Public
holidays and participate in golf competitions. Interested
members are required to make their application with the Garden
Golf Office.
Eligibility for test
Submission of Scorecards Requirement
At least:
20 (18 holes) scorecards for men
10 (18 holes) scorecards for
women
- 9 holes scorecards can be combined
to make one 18-hole card provided they are from the same
golf course. Only complete 18 holes cards are to be submitted.
- Kindly note that different codes
are used to differentiate the family members under the
same membership number.
In order for returned scorecards to
be credited to the correct family member, please ensure
your full membership number appears at the top of each card.
For example:
X5555 / 00 - for men
X5555 / 99 - for women
X5555 / 01 / X5555 / 02 - oldest son / second oldest son
…and so on
X5555 / 91 / X5555 / 92 - oldest daughter / second oldest
daughter and so on.
b) Provisional handicap of not higher
then 24 (for men) and 36 (for women).
An appointed member from the Greens Committee
(for men) and Ladies Golf Sub Committee (for women) will conduct
the test over 9 holes of play. Successful candidates may be
awarded handicaps of 24 or lower for men and 36 or lower for
ladies.
Eligible members will notified of the
test date, time and venue. The test is usually conducted on
a weekday, evening at about 5.00pm.
Handicap Test
- Candidates will be required to play
a 9-hole round of golf within 2 hours and 10 minutes with
at least a half set of clubs. The choice of clubs for each
shot is at the discretion of the candidate.
- To pass the handicap test, candidates
are required to complete a 9-hole round (normally at Tampines
Course), using less than 52 strokes and to observe the golf
rules and etiquette during the round. The tester will keep
the candidate's scores and may also ask questions on basic
golf rules and etiquette.
Results
Candidates will be informed
of their test results by mail. In the event of the member
failing the test, a retest will be available only upon submission
of another ten (18-hole) scorecards OR after 3 months have
elapsed.
